Artificial Intelligence: Advantages and Challenges in Bangladesh
Artificial Intelligence: Definition
In contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans and other animals, Artificial intelligence (AI) is machine demonstrated intelligence that is also known as machine intelligence. In computer science, any device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of successfully achieving its goals is called intelligent agent. AI is therefore defined as Intelligent Agent. (Poole & Mackworth, 2017)

Artificial Intelligence and Unemployment
Rasheed (2018) quotes Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba Group, that there will be massive unemployment across the globe in upcoming days that will result into wars and make the next 30 years painful. Some activists are concerned that globalization and technologies such as AI are threatening the ordinary people’s lives and values. However, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a reality. AI may accelerate rising unemployment among youth resulting into a disaster in global peace and security. AI is already decreasing human jobs and depressing the wage growth. In 2016, Foxconn replaced 60,000 of its workers with robots (Rasheed, 2018). Shipping and warehousing companies are dumping human workers for robots, drones are being used for surveillance and even for delivering pizza, and restaurants are using robot chefs. In fact, several recent researches have suggested that over the course of the next decade many occupations will become fully automated. The research conducted in Britain by the Bank of England has found that about 15 million jobs are at risk while a research at Oxford University estimated that AI can decrease the job prospect of nearly 700 occupations like administrative, clerical, production, telemarketing, cashiers, data entry operator, library manager, tax and insurance employee and so on (Rasheed, 2018). Drivers of any kind of vehicle are at risk of becoming obsolete in near future. Automakers like Ford and BMW have already planned to launch their autonomous cars by 2020-22. Even high level jobs like auditors and lawyers may face threat (Rasheed, 2018).
Artificial Intelligence: Advantages and Challenges in Bangladesh
Michio Kaku (Cited as in Rasheed, 2018) argues that repetitive jobs in the textile and automobile sectors and jobs of middlemen, book-keepers, agents, and tellers are more in danger than the non-repetitive jobs like construction works, gardening, policing etc. Martin Ford holds that jobs of teachers, journalists, financial analysts, radiologists are also likely to be at risk. Global leaders like the former US President Barack Obama seemed to be getting ready to incorporate AI in public life (Wired magazine, 2016 Cited as in Rasheed, 2018).

AI and Communism
In his writing Das Capital, Karl Marx dreamt of a utopia or the Third Industrial Revolution where people would be ultimately free from repetitive and boring industrial tasks. It is believed workers can now engage in more creative tasks. If the wealth created by AI can properly be distributed in society, unemployment would be seen as freedom rather than a negative phenomenon (Rasheed, 2018). US entrepreneur and thinker Kevin Surace and Rudy Karsan (Cited as in Rasheed, 2018) both support the words of Marx. AI may strengthen the communist and fascist totalitarian systems whereas create a crisis for capitalism.

AI in Bangladesh
From the above discussion, it is evident that AI has its merits and demerits at the same time. All of the arguments are generalizable to the context of Bangladesh. Applying AI can bring the positive turn in the ongoing digitalization process. On the other hand, it may badly affect the current unemployment problem of the country.
